Week 4 - Term 3
U3A Diary (a summary - details further down)
As you are no doubt aware the Flu is spreading and the Queensland Health Department is advising to take precautions. The ‘Spread the facts, not the flu’ campaign, reminds Queenslanders to:
· Get vaccinated – vaccination each year is the best protection against flu.
· Stay home when you are sick and avoid spreading the flu.
· Wash your hands thoroughly – it takes at least 15 seconds to wash your hands properly.
· Limit the spread of germs by using a tissue or coughing/sneezing into your elbow.
· Dispose of used tissues as the flu virus can live outside the human body for a number of hours.
· Clean what you touch frequently. Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces including keyboards, and phones that may be contaminated with germs.
We are providing disinfectant wipes in the computer room and ask Campus members to adhere to the reminder above.

French Classes Celebrate “Bastille Day”
Friday 14th July saw 25 members of the three French classes and their tutors and guests enjoying a luncheon celebration of la Fête Nationale at ‘Rustic Olive’ on Redcliffe Esplanade. As we looked across to the sea, shimmering in the winter sun, we felt like we could easily be in the south of France. Sam and his team treated us to a delicious meal of various Italian dishes and all who attended had a wonderful time socialising with their classmates and meeting people from other French classes. After lunch we joined together to sing La Marseillaise which we have been practising for some weeks.
We have TWO EVENTS taking place in August and September, and we are in need of members to volunteer their services please.
