U3A Diary (a summary - details further down)
Presidents Perspective Term 3 is off to a good start with several new classes including Laughing Yoga, History of Railways, a second discussion group “What on Earth? No 2 and next Thursday 20th Stephanie Mann will commence Book Making (the physical making of books). We continue to attract new members and the office has been busy enrolling these and taking care of the other bits and pieces. Again, many thanks to our office volunteers without whom we could not function.
We had our first Guest Speaker on Thursday from “Centrelink” on Digital Education. From my perspective, not quite what I thought it would be, but we did learn a few things. For one, if your first encounter with Centrelink is “Go on line,” you can say NO, I want to speak to someone, and they have to make an appointment for you.
Our next Guest Speaker will be on Thursday 10th August at 1.00PM in the MBR with a representative from the Transport Department with advice on Road Rules including Mobility Scooters and Cycles.
