U3A Diary (a summary - details further down)
Welcome to Term 3
Welcome back to Term 3 starting on Monday 10th July. We trust you have had a relaxing break and are looking forward to taking on one of the many activities we have on offer this term. Looking through the Term 3 Newsletter we have 89 classes and activities this term, including several interesting new ones. Once again, a big thank you to everyone who helped to put together the Newsletter and to the Tutors who will be running the Classes and Activities.
During the Term Break we had another very successful Trivia Session and we thank Barry and Margaret Montague for organising the questions and conducting the Trivia Quiz. The day would not happen without the organisation of Judith Murphy our Secretary, who makes sure these days run very smoothly and are good fun, thanks Judith.
The first of our Monthly Speaker’s Days will be Thursday 13th July in the Margaret Ball Room at 1.00PM, where the Guest Speaker at this session will be Jan Donaldson from the Department of Human Services, whose topic will be Digital Education. Please advise the office if you are wanting to attend. Daniel Coutts, our original Guest Speaker is unable to attend so Jan will be conducting the session. Past Speakers from “Centrelink” (Department of Human Services) have been very interesting so we look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
At this point I might get in a plug for my New Cycling for Pleasure activity along bike paths as designated by Moreton Bay Regional Council. The initial rides will be to Scarborough and Woody Point where a break for a coffee or tea will be taken and then ride back to ANZAC Place. Rides will normally be of one to one & half hour duration. The cycling group will have a maximum of 12 riders, so you will have to register to join the group - all participants are requested to check with their doctor as to their fitness to participate in this activity and we will ask participants to sign a disclaimer form. First ride will be Friday 21st July 8.00am start, meeting near First Settlement Wall, ANZAC Place on the waterfront at Redcliffe, looking forward to seeing you there.
I will end here, but again welcome back to Term 3.

Also thank you to everyone who helped restore the MBR to its normal layout in readiness for commencement of classes on Monday 10th July.
