This Week’s President’s Perspective
I am again amazed by the talents we see within our membership here at U3A Redcliffe. We held a First Run-through of our Seniors Week Concert on Thursday 29th June, and what a great Run-through it was. The first time we have used the Margaret Ball Room for this purpose and we achieved most of our goals and kept within our 2-hour time limit. The acts still have a few more weeks to hone their skills and I am sure you will all enjoy a very entertaining Concert on the 24th August, I understand tickets will be on sale from Monday 17th July.
The first of our Monthly Speaker’s day will be Thursday 13th July in the Margaret Ball Room at 1.00PM, where the Guest Speaker at this session will be Daniel Coutts from “Centrelink” part of the Department of Human Services. Please advise the office if you are wanting to attend. Daniel’s topics will be Information about Age Pension; Financial assistance for older Australians and other support services. This will be followed on the 10th August, a representative from the Transport Department about Road Rules presentation will include general rules, mobility scooters and bicycle rules. The third in the series will be on 14th September. The first Service Information Day titled “Health & Wellbeing Services Day” will be held on Thursday 28th September commencing at 10.00am and finishing at 3.00pm. We are currently arranging the Speakers for this special day and details will be made available as soon as they are finalised. We feel these sessions will be most informative and we would like to see you coming along to support the efforts of the Sub-committee in obtaining these speakers.
During term break the campus will be open to process computer class bookings between 9.00am to 12.30pm on the following days: Tues 4th July and Fri 7th July.
