SENIORS’ WEEK ACTIVITIES:ART EXHIBITION
This year the Art Classes of U3A Redcliffe will be holding an Art Exhibition as part of our Seniors’ Week Activities.
It will be held at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre from Tuesday 15th August until Monday 28th August. The Redcliffe Art Society will handle the bookings for the Exhibitions at the Cultural Centre and we will be working closely with them in arranging our Exhibition.
At this stage we do not have all the details, but they will provide the tickets for placing on the pieces of art and will also hang the paintings. They will be asking for volunteers to assist. We will be advised of the amount of space allocated to us and will then work out how many pieces each student can display.
U3A SENIORS CONCERTAt the recent Management Committee Meeting there was a long discussion regarding the Seniors Concert. Reluctantly, the decision was made NOT to hold the Concert at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre.
Some of our performers have been an integral part of the Concert for many years, but this year have had to make the very difficult decision not to participate – due to health reasons.
This has left us with a reduced number of performers and most certainly not enough to stage a Concert such as we have had in the past. We did ask for expressions of interest for people to form a Production Committee, but we have only had one person come forward
We are hopeful of still staging a Seniors Week Concert but in a different format, so we are looking for members of U3A Redcliffe who have talents as yet unknown to us to come forward and put your name down at the office. We will then review the situation and see what we can come up with. We do already have some of our existing musical groups who have expressed interest so hopefully we can add to those and celebrate with a U3A Redcliffe Seniors Week Concert.
Our next Trivia morning will be held on WEDNESDAY 5TH APRIL here at U3A in the MBR commencing at 10.00am, 52 places available. Come along to the office and book your seat. $8.00 includes light luncheon and good prizes.
The ladies of the new class, "I don't Mind if you Colour in", certainly don't mind sharing their beautiful creations. A morning of creative colouring in, Mindful relaxation and, to be honest, gentle gossip, with the added bonus of enjoying the music from the next door room, and a break for a well earned cuppa, is well worth considering. We meet on alternate Thursday mornings, and our next class is on March 9th. We would love some more interested people to join us, so if you are free, pop in between 9.30 and 11 am in room 3.We look forward to seeing you. Any questions, feel free to ring Gillian on 3283 3817
WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE:
Our Friday morning our “Retrieving the Garbage Bins” person is not able to do this chore due to her going on a lengthy holiday.
We are seeking the services of a member who attends a Friday class to take on this role. It entails bringing the empty bins back into the campus and storing them in the storeroom located next to the lift. Our cleaners place the bins out on the footpath on Thursday evening.
If you can help, please leave your name and phone number at the office and I will get back to you. GENERAL ITEM
On weeks where there are not many new items to include in the Communique I intend to include snippets of news items which I consider would be of interest to members. This week I am including an item relating to computer security.

How alerts are created and threat priority levels determined
Threats are filtered through a matrix managed by ENEX Test Lab, which assesses the relevance to Australian Internet users and grades threats with a priority level. To determine a priority level, the contents of the Alert are given a cumulative score out of 20 using a criteria that takes into account the potential for damage, the time frame of the threat, the potential for exploitability and user control/ technicality.
The cumulative score out of 20 is then used to apply one of the following priority levels;
Urgent – This grading is rarely used as it means a threat requires immediate user attention,
High – Users should act on advice to ensure their safety, security or privacy is maintained,
Moderate – Users would benefit from further information or preparing action, or
Low – This grading is rarely used as these threats are rarely worth publishing.
Stay Smart Online is a useful resource for businesses and consumers, providing information on how they can protect themselves online.
